Description

Low Yewdale Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of painted stone and features a slate roof. The building has two storeys and two bays, with a slate drip course at the ground floor. The windows include casements, a fire window, and three-light wood mullioned windows with iron opening lights. There is a gable-end stack, and the entrance is marked by a slate gabled canopy and a wide-boarded door. At the rear, there is a wing with a gable-end stack. Inside, the cottage has chamfered beams, a two-panel door, a winding stair, and a rear fireplace range. The property is owned by The National Trust, having been gifted by Beatrix Potter.
