Description
This is a 18th-century bank barn located to the south-west of Low Yewdale Farmhouse. It is constructed of stone rubble and features a slate roof. The barn includes a cow house underneath, with three windows in the cow house and two windows at the upper level—one with two lights and another with three lights, although the latter has a missing mullion beside the threshing door. There is a blocked entrance on the right side and a small lean-to projection. The left side has an entrance to the cow house, while the right side features slate drip courses and a window. The rear of the barn has a ramp leading to pivoted barn doors and square ventilation holes. Inside, there are tie beam trusses, and the cow house has slate and wood partitions at one end. This property is owned by The National Trust and was a gift from Beatrix Potter.
