Description

This 18th-century limekiln is constructed from slate and is built into the side of a bank, featuring a ramp and a small quarry pit at the rear. It has a round, slightly tapering shape and includes the remains of a projecting wall on the left side. The opening of the kiln has a corbelled arch that is splayed. Above the opening, there is a timber beam with a slate dripcourse, which likely suggests the presence of a lean-to shelter. The shaft of the kiln is roughly cylindrical, partly blocked, and open at the top. This limekiln is a well-preserved example of its kind.
