Description
The outer garden terrace wall north of Lowther Castle was built between 1806 and 1810 by Sir Robert Smirke for the 1st Earl of Lonsdale. It features walls made of calciferous sandstone ashlar and has battlemented parapets. The wall is roughly C-shaped and includes a central lodge, which is listed separately. Each corner of the wall has a small rectangular turret with loops. This structure is recognized for its group value with Lowther Castle.
