Description
Weir Bridge is a road bridge over the River Exe, built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from random rubble local stone, with dressed voussoirs and Ham stone saddleback coping. The bridge features a single arch span with a 4-centred arch opening. The north front, which faces upstream, has a pointed shape with stepped cutwaters, while the south front has a square shape with a stepped cutwater that has a chamfered top. Above this cutwater, there is a section of stonework that gives the impression of a plinth on a column. The parapets are swept back and end in circular piers, and there is a string course that is omega-shaped in cross section. The bridge is likely part of the Pixton Park estate.
