Description

Glebe Cottage and School Cottage is a semi-detached pair of cottages built in the late 19th century. They are constructed from red sandstone random rubble, with a tile-hung gable end on the right and a plain clay tile roof that is hipped to the left. The cottages have an overhanging eaves and sprockets, with brick stacks located at the centre of the ridges on both the left and right sides. The building is arranged in a U-plan and is one and a half storeys high, featuring two bays on the left and one bay on the right.

The windows are all ogee-headed wooden frames with leading, including one casement for every two and three-light window. On the left side, there are two 2-light dormers with tile-hung gabled tops, while the right side has a 3-light canted bay supported by stepped brackets and topped with a pentice roof. The ground floor on the left has a 3-light window beneath a relieving arch, and above the entrance, there is a clay tile pentice roof on shaped brackets, with a side light on the left and a 3-light window on the right. The gable end on the right has a similar arrangement. The entrances feature ogee-headed plank doors with three steps leading up to each.

On the right return, there is a single-storey canted bay. This building presents a picturesque composition that retains its original windows, which are characteristic of the Acland estate buildings in the area.
