Description
Rose Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that was altered in the early 19th century. It is constructed of colour washed random rubble with a roughcast right return and features a thatched roof. The cottage has a large external stepped stack on the left return. It consists of two cells and a cross passage, with one and a half storeys and three bays. The first floor has two-light early 19th-century leaded iron casements that rise from below the eaves, while the central window was enlarged in the 20th century. On the ground floor, there are 20th-century two-light wooden casements flanking a central plank door. On the left return, the first floor has two-light casements to the right of the external stack, which likely light the winder stairs. The interior has not been seen. This cottage is illustrated in the 1947 study of Luccombe by 'Mass observation'.
