Description

Wychanger Barton is part of a manor house that has been converted into a semi-detached dwelling. It likely dates from the late 16th to early 17th century but was damaged by fire and reroofed, with extensive alterations made in the late 19th century. The building is rendered over rubble and features a shallow-pitched slate roof with overhanging eaves. There are paired brick stacks located to the left near the junction with Wychanger and at the center of the building.

The layout includes a full-height porch on the left and a hall end on the right, which was rebuilt after the fire as a pair of cottages, creating a two-cell and cross passage design. The building has two storeys and is arranged in a 1:3:3 bay configuration. The left side has a gabled full-height porch, while below it are 2-light casement windows and 19th-century half-glazed leaded double doors set beneath a wooden lintel. The other windows are all 2-and 3-light late 19th-century wooden casements. The entrance is located in the second and fifth bays on the left, featuring a half-glazed door and a gabled clay tile porch with a semi-circular opening. On the right, there is a gabled clay tile hooded porch supported by shaped brackets, which leads to a plank door. The interior has not been inspected. The building is primarily listed for its historic interest as part of the manor house and for its group value with Wychanger to the left.
