Description
Church View is a cottage dated 1680, with its south gable end rebuilt in the late 19th century when the cottage was reroofed. The exterior is rendered over random rubble, with a brick south gable end and a double Roman tiled roof. There are square and circular stacks rising at the rear. The plan consists of two cells and a cross passage. The cottage is one and a half storeys high and features three bays. The first floor has late 19th and 20th century leaded two-light casements that rise from below the eaves. On the ground floor, there are 20th century wooden casements, with one on the left and two on the right of a plank door that has a square plaque above it, dated 1680 HLI. To the right (south) is an irregular section of wall about one metre long, which includes a slate-roofed bread oven projection. This section was part of the cottage that abutted the south wall of Church View, which was demolished in the late 19th century when Glebe Farm and School House were built. A photograph in the National Monuments Record shows the cottages prior to alteration. The interior has not been seen.
