Description
Townsend headstone, dated 1722, is located approximately 45 metres north-west of the north aisle of the Church of St Andrew in South Tawton. This headstone is made of granite and features an upright slab that stands about 600mm high with a low elliptical head. The front of the headstone has a simple incised border and is inscribed with neat Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, commemorating the death of John Townsend in 1722.
