Description

This is a headstone from the 18th century, located approximately 3 meters north of the aisle of the Church of St. Andrew in South Tawton. Made of granite, the upright slab stands about 400mm high and features a low elliptical head. The front of the headstone is adorned with a carved, stylized winged cherub's head above an inscription in large upper and lower case letters. The inscription commemorates John Tapp, although the date of his death is now buried.
