Description

The bridge over Blackaton Brook is a 19th-century road bridge located at SX 679 890 in Throwleigh. It is constructed from granite and features a small single span clapper design. At this location, the stream flows through a small gully, with the sides supported by roughly-shaped blocks of granite serving as vertical abutments. The bridge is formed by granite slabs, with additional slabs on either side set at a slightly higher level, providing low coping along the road. In the 20th century, iron railings were added into these slabs.
