Description

Blackaton Bridge (East) is a road bridge over Blackaton Brook, likely built in the 19th century. It features roughly-shaped blocks of granite and has a low two-span design. The vertical abutments and central pier are constructed from granite blocks, some of which are relatively large. The pier has a pointed cutwater on the upstream side and is square on the downstream side. Both spans are supported by long pieces of granite laid side by side. Additionally, similar long square-section pieces are used as coping for the road, with plain 20th-century iron railings set into the top.
