Description

Blackaton Bridge (West) is a road bridge over Chapple Brook, likely built in the 19th century. It is constructed from roughly-shaped blocks of granite. The bridge features a low design with two spans, supported by granite abutments and a central rectangular pier made of relatively large granite blocks. The spans are covered with long pieces of granite laid side by side. Additionally, similar long square-section pieces serve as low coping for the road, and plain 20th-century iron railings have been installed at the top.
