Description
18 and 20 St Lawrence Lane are a mirrored pair of houses dating from the early 19th century. The fronts are rendered to imitate masonry, with painted slate-hanging on the right gable. They feature a half-hipped slated roof and a large rendered chimney at the center of the ridge, over the party wall. The buildings are three storeys tall, with each house having one window per storey and doorways at the outer ends of the ground storey.
No 18 has a four-panelled door with a knocker, where the upper panels are now glazed. No 20 has a door with four moulded upper panels and three flush bottom panels, with the top two panels also glazed and an iron knocker. Both doors are flanked by pilasters with incised Greek decoration and an entablature. The windows have bracketed sills and six-paned sashes, except for the upper sashes on the third storey, which have only three panes. The ground storey sashes are slightly bowed, while the sashes in the third storey rise slightly above the eaves.
