Description
The reservoir, located about 130 meters north of East Street in Ashburton, was built in 1791 and once served as part of the town's water supply. It features a stone rubble wall approximately 3 meters high, topped with a raised band. The structure includes two round-arched openings made from squared granite blocks, each with raised keystones; the keystone on the left is inscribed with the date 1791. Plain imposts extend across the openings, seemingly made of concrete, while the heads of the arches are filled with stone rubble. Below the imposts are plain iron doors. Inside, there are pillared, brick-lined chambers at the bottom of a flight of steps. The garden of Woodstock, an unlisted house built in 1931, is situated on top of the reservoir.
