Description
The gateway to the Manor House Hotel, including gate piers, gates, and flanking quadrant walls, is located adjacent to West Lodge in North Bovey. It was likely designed in 1907 by Detmar Blow for Viscount Hambledon. The structure is made of Bath stone ashlar. The main carriageway features a pedestrian gate on either side. The gate piers are rebated at each corner with a stop at the base and have moulded cornices topped with diagonally set volutes that support ball finials. The wrought iron gates are finely crafted, each displaying a coat of arms at the top.
