Description

MORETONHAMPSTEAD SX 78 NE 2/79 Stables approximately 15 metres - to north-east of Coombe Farmhouse 23.8.55 GV II

Stables. Mid C19. Granite rubble walls with dressed granite voussoirs to flat arches. Slate roof with gable ends. Long rectangular plan divided into 2 parts with loose boxes in left-hand section. Single storey with loft above. Facade is in 2 roughly symmetrical sections: left-hand side has central wide doorway with segmental arch and tall loading door above with round-headed voussoir arch. Window on ground floor to left and right. Right-hand section has central doorway with inserted loading door above, tall window on either side at ground floor level and smaller ones on the first floor. Inside, the left-hand section is divided into loose boxes by possibly the original rough wooden partitions.
