Description
Pump Cottage is a small house in a row, dating from the 16th century with later modifications. It features light box timber-framing, brick nogging, and an underbuild, topped with a tiled roof and a brick stack. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a single-windowed facade. A small two-light dormer is positioned high on the slope, along with a two-light and a three-light casement window on the ground floor. There is a stable door on the right side and a 20th-century stack at the back left. The interior has not been inspected. Pump Cottage is part of an important early group facing Abbey Mills and is situated on a raised pavement to help reduce the risk of annual flooding. The name "Pump Cottage" comes from the pump located on the paving opposite.
