Description
47 and 48 High Street are a pair of houses that also include a shop, dating from the 16th or 17th century, with an 18th-century front. The buildings feature timber-framing, with No. 47 having painted Flemish bond brickwork and No. 48 being rendered, both topped with a tile roof. They are small-scale structures, with a two-room front that runs parallel to the street. The houses are two storeys tall with an attic and have one window each on the ground and first floors.
Both houses have two small gabled dormers above a three-light replacement casement window and a replacement sash window. No. 47 features a 19th-century four-light window on the ground floor, alongside a glazed door set on one stone step. No. 48 has a 19th-century shop front with a recessed central door, flanked by pilasters with consoles and topped with a cornice. There is no visible chimney stack from the street. At the back, there are two closely set gabled wings with replacement windows. The interior has not been inspected.
