Description
Nos. 43 and 44 High Street are a pair of houses built in the mid to late 18th century. They feature Flemish bond brickwork and a slate roof, with a brick stack. The buildings rise three storeys and have a two plus two window arrangement. All windows are 12-pane sashes with brick voussoirs, plain keystones with cornices, and stone cills. No. 43 has a late 20th-century shop front, while No. 44 has a modified 19th-century shop front that includes a wide set-back multi-pane 20th-century bow. To the right, there is a glazed door on two steps, framed by 19th-century pilasters and topped with a shallow transom light featuring decorative bars and an entablature with incised decoration. The buildings have a coped parapet and a large central brick ridge stack. The rear of the houses has various 20th-century additions. The interior has not been inspected.
