Description
30 Barton Street is a small house located in Tewkesbury, dating from the late 15th or 16th century, with a front that was rebuilt in the 18th century. The house is constructed of rendered brick and timber-frame, topped with a tile roof and featuring a brick stack. It has a narrow frontage and a steep roof, covering Davis Alley to the right, and includes a back wing.
The building is two storeys high with an attic and has a single window. There is an 18th-century two-light gabled dormer above a three-light casement window with horizontal bars. On the ground floor, to the left, there is a large four-pane sash window next to a small 19th-century four-panel flush door, with an opening to the alley immediately to the right. The house features a first-floor string, brick dentil eaves, and a central brick stack on the rear slope.
In the alley, there is a wide 18th-century plank and bead door set in good square panel timber-framing. The rear wing has heavy timber-framing with various lights and includes 20th-century additions. The interior has not been inspected, but it is likely to be of the same date and construction as the adjoining No. 29, with which it interlocks at the ground floor.
