Description

This building is a barn dating from the late 17th to early 18th century, located approximately 18 meters north of Middle Farmhouse in Oxenton. There is also a shelter shed from the 19th century. The barn features square-panelled timber framing with red brick infill, and part of the rear wall is weatherboarded. It has some minor rebuilding in red brick and a limestone plinth, topped with a red tile roof. The barn has a rectangular plan and includes a later shelter shed at the west gable end and a lean-to at the east end.

On the south side, there are double plank doors located off-centre to the left, smaller double plank doors on the far right, and a wide single-width plank door leading to the brick-built section on the left. There are pitching windows in the gable ends. The open-fronted shelter shed has six open bays separated by timber uprights resting on limestone padstones, with a brick-built manger at the rear. Inside the barn, there are four bays, with the east bay previously partitioned off. The floor is flagged for threshing, and the original roof trusses consist of tie beams with straight braces and a collar beam, along with double purlins.
