Description

St Kenelm's House and St Kenulf is a large house consisting of two parts, built in the 18th and 19th centuries, located on Abbey Terrace in Winchcombe. The left section is set back and features painted stucco with a simple parapet and a Welsh slate mansard roof. It has two storeys, an attic, and a basement, with three windows. The segmental-headed dormers have sash windows above wide-spaced sashes, all set in reveals and beneath V-jointed projecting voussoirs that extend beyond the openings, with glazing bars present. On the ground floor, there are two arched sashes under alternating V-joint voussoirs, which do not have glazing bars. Centrally, there is a pair of three-panel fielded doors leading up three stone steps into an archway, accompanied by a bold portico supported by Doric pilasters and inner pilasters. The moulded arch features a keystone, and the cheek openings are also arched with keystones. The porch has a flat entablature with a deep plain frieze.

The right half of the building is also finished in painted stucco and has a moulded cornice halfway up to a simple parapet, with a Welsh slate roof and coped gables. This section has two storeys and a basement, with three windows that are sashes without bars, featuring plat-band surrounds on the first floor and a continuous cill bend. The central glazed door is topped by a plain transom light and is accessed by five steps.
