Description
Nos. 2, 3, and 4 Orchard Court are a row of free-standing cottages built in the late 18th century or early 19th century. They feature Flemish bond brickwork, a combination of slate and tile roofing, and a brick chimney stack. This short row has a mansard roof with half-hipped ends and is positioned at right angles to Nos. 51 and 52 Barton Street. The cottages are two storeys tall with an attic, each having one window.
No. 2 has a modern two-light dormer above a two-light casement window with a transom. On the ground floor, there is a wide three-light casement window with a segmental head and a modern gabled porch over a 19th-century six-panel door. No. 3 is similar but has the porch on the left side, while No. 4 features late 20th-century replacement windows on the first floor and in the attic, along with a wide multi-pane bow window on the ground floor.
The left gable of No. 4 is rendered and has a large external chimney stack, while there is a ridge stack located between Nos. 2 and 3. The right gable is also rendered, and the rear of the cottages has various modern extensions. The roof is slate on the lower part and tiled on the upper slope of the mansard. The interior has not been inspected.
