Description
The Pearce monument is a short chest tomb located in the churchyard, about 3 meters southeast of the southeast corner of the chancel of the Church of St Catherine. It dates from the late 18th century and is made of stone. The tomb features a flat lid with a moulded edge. The south side has a raised panel with scalloped top corners and corner paterae, while the north side is similar but has quadrant upper corners and no paterae. The ends of the tomb have wide pilasters and a raised panel on the stem, with pods hanging from bows on the returns. It has a moulded plinth and is set on wider stone paving. The date of death inscribed on the tomb is 17-4, although the third figure is not legible.
