Description
The Pearce Monument is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 1.5 meters east of the south-east corner of the chancel at the Church of St Catherine. It commemorates W. Pearce, who died in 1784. The monument is made of stone and features indented corners, except for an acorn finial. It has a cable moulding, and the top sweeps down to a step with a ledge and a moulded edge. There is a plain cornice with cable moulding and raised panels in a different stone on each face, surrounded by a raised, moulded edge. The monument has a moulded plinth and paving, which originally included iron railings. The north face has inscriptions that record earlier deaths.
