Description
The Thomas Cook monument is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard of the Church of St. Michael, approximately 4 metres north of the chancel. It commemorates Thomas Cook, who died in 1796. The tomb has a square plan with inset corners and features a plinth with moulded capping. On the south side, there is an inscription dedicated to Thomas Cook, while the north side bears an inscription for his wife, Elizabeth, who died in 1839. The west side also has an inscription for Elizabeth. The monument is adorned with a fluted frieze that includes a single rosette at the center above the inscription panels on each side, topped with a pyramidal capping.
