Description
Whitfield House is a former vicarage, now a house, built in the early 18th century and later altered and extended in the mid-20th century. The building features ashlar, coursed, squared stone on the left wing and rougher stone on the right, topped with a stone slate roof. The central section has three windows and stands at 2 and a half storeys, flanked by two-storey, two-window wings on either side.
The entrance is marked by double glazed doors that are accessed by four stone steps, topped with a three-piece stone lintel that has a dropped, projecting keystone. There are sash windows on either side of the entrance, each with a similar head. Above the entrance, there are three 12-pane sash windows, and three gabled dormers with two-light casements. The eaves are moulded, and the gables are pedimented, with parapet gables at the ends.
The building has 'T' plan chimneys on the ridge, featuring moulded caps. The left wing is slightly set back and includes a three-light casement window and a single-storey flat-roofed projection. Above this projection are two two-light casements, and there is a parapet gable at the end. The right wing is also slightly set back, with a narrow sash window on each floor against the central block, while the rest of the front of the wing is obscured by planting. A parapet gable on the right includes a gable chimney.
