Description
The conduit located about 7 meters south-west of No 14 in Stanway was built in 1897, as indicated by the datestone. It is constructed of ashlar masonry and has a square plan. Each side features a gabled design with raised corners and diagonal ribs that run parallel to the roof line, enclosing a diamond panel and smaller panels above. The roof has a projecting verge and a ridge roll. On the side facing the road, there is a head at the bottom of the diamond panel, which includes a projecting pipe and tap, along with the inscription "QVDJ 1897." This conduit was built to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee and is an interesting example of a public water supply.
