Description
No. 2 St Mary's Lane is a house dating from the 16th century, part of a row of buildings. It features heavy timber-framing with tension bracing and painted brick nogging, topped with a tile roof. The house has a parallel two-bay plan and a jettied upper floor over a brick underbuild. It stands two storeys high and has two windows. At the eaves, there is a two-light casement and a paired two-light casement set in braced framing, along with a small square light above to the right. Below, there are a two-light and paired 12-pane sash windows. The central entrance is a plank door with a segmental brick head, accessed by two steps. The left gable is visible above the adjoining building and is constructed with heavy framing. There is a large rendered chimney stack to the right, next to No. 91 Church Street, and a 20th-century industrial-type flue is located low to the left. The interior has not been inspected.
