Description

A pair of two-story, 1819-dated cottages situated in a row, likely originally intended as four dwellings. The building is constructed of brick, with a pantile roof over No. 5 and a concrete tile roof over No. 6. Gable stacks and a central stack are present. A modern wing extends from the rear of No. 6. The cottages have a two-by-two window arrangement. The windows are 2-light casements with glazing bars, set beneath wide-splayed flat brick arches with a central stone key. The central pair of windows are 3-light casements, employing the same detailing. C19 plank doors are positioned slightly off-centre in each cottage, also set beneath splayed and keyed brick arches matching the windows. Access is provided via a common pathway of seven steps, leading onward to a further three steps from a common landing. The cottages remain largely unaltered externally.
