Description
Combe House is a Grade II listed building located on the east side of The Street in Stinchcombe. Originally known as Street Farm, it dates back to the early 18th century. The structure is built from squared and coursed marlstone and features a stone slate roof. It is a long, narrow block with coped gables and cross gables at each end of the main front, along with a deep return wing and a modern extension on the right. The building has three stone stacks.
The road-facing side has 2½ storeys and is arranged with four windows. All windows are stone chamfered mullions with moulded stopped drips, consisting of three, two, and one light on the ground floor, first floor, and gables, respectively. There is a plank door beneath a four-pane transom light, surrounded by a chamfered frame and featuring a moulded and stopped drip in bay four. At the back, there is a heavy framed 19th-century plank ledged door set within a modern glazed porch.
Inside, there is a semi-circular stairwell next to a gable fireplace, although the interior has been generally much modified over time.
