Description
Lamports Barn is an 18th-century barn located approximately 100 meters northeast of Lamport Court. It is constructed from marlstone rubble and features a stone slate roof. The barn has a plain gabled design and lacks cart entrances, although there is a blocked panel on the south wall that may have served as an entry point in the past. The building is oriented with its long axis running across the slope of the site. It has scattered openings, primarily with wooden lintels, and a larger off-centre two-door opening on the north face, which has a segmental voussoired head. The barn consists of five bays and a two-purlin collar truss, mostly arranged over two floors, with one light timber-framed partition. At the time of the survey, the property was attached to Melksham Court and not to the nearby Lamport Court.
