Description

Mounteneys Farmhouse is a mid-17th century farmhouse that was altered and extended in the 19th century. The exterior is roughcast and has a double Roman tile roof, with rendered end stacks. The front range has offset and moulded dentil cornices, while brick stacks are found elsewhere. The house follows a double-pile plan with a through passage and an additional wing to the northwest. It is two storeys high with an attic in the gable ends, and has three windows with 3/2/3-light 19th-century multi-pane casements. The ground floor has two 20th-century metal windows, and a central doorcase features an early 19th-century wooden trelliswork porch and a half-glazed door with margin glazing. Inside, the rear range contains a very fine 17th-century wide dog-leg staircase with twisted balusters having acanthus-carved bases.
