Description

Ingleside, now divided into three houses, likely originated in the late 15th or 16th century, although it has undergone extensive alterations. The house is rendered and has a double Roman tiled roof. It was originally built with a U-shaped plan, featuring two projecting gabled wings at the front, with a later rear wing added—this rear wing is known as The Cottage. The main house is single-storey with attics, lit by three dormers. It has four bays, with 20th-century 2- and 3-light casement windows. A 20th-century door and porch now occupy the center, replacing a former studded plank door set under an arched head. One 2-light casement window at the rear retains a coarsely chamfered mullion.

The interior of the western part of the house shows original features, including stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops and a large inglenook fireplace in the room to the right. The roof structure consists of three trusses, possibly originally raised crucks with collars, some of which appear smoke blackened. On the first floor, there's a doorway with shouldered jambs, which has been partially restored.
