Description
The Baptist Church, dated 1834, is located on the south side of Tetbury Street in Minchinhampton. It was built on land donated by David Ricardo. The front of the church is constructed from coursed and squared limestone, while the sides and rear are of random rubble, with a Welsh slate roof. The church is rectangular in plan. The front elevation has a three-window arrangement, with 12-pane sash windows featuring marginal glazing bars and plain raised surrounds. A central doorway has a raised surround, with double 20th-century plank doors and a rectangular window above. The low-pitched parapet gable has a plain band below, and a dated lunette panel with a raised surround. The sides of the church feature a three-window arrangement with 12-pane sashes over two levels. The interior was reportedly altered and refurbished in the 20th century. Iron railings with spear tops run along the front of the church, with principal posts topped with urn finials. A central openwork gateway is topped with an overthrow supporting a lamp. Short lengths of low walls with moulded coping terminate the railings.
