Description
The railings, wall, piers, and gates located to the south and southwest of Marling School were constructed between 1889 and 1894, likely designed by W H Seth-Smith, the architect of the school. The boundary features a limestone ashlar dwarf wall with square ashlar piers at regular intervals, topped with ball finials, and iron railings in between. There are two gateways: one leading to the school on the left and the other to the headmaster's house on the right. The gate-piers for both gateways are taller and also feature ball finials. The left-hand gateway includes iron double gates adorned with scrolled cresting. This information was illustrated in The Builder on May 23, 1896.
