Description
This building is an outbuilding located to the northwest of Farleys End Farmhouse. It is possibly a former byre, dating from the 15th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. The structure is partly timber-framed, with brick and lias rebuilding, and features a brick chimney and a 20th-century clay pantile roof. It has two bays and is a single storey with a loft.
On the west side, there is early square framing to the left, while the right side is mostly brick with a segmental arched casement. The north end has a lias gable that has been patched in brick and includes a segmental arched loft casement. The east side is brick on the left and lias on the right, featuring a doorway with a plank door and a casement to the left, both with segmental arches, and a right segmental arched plank door. The south end has two very small casements and a brick ridge chimney.
Inside, there are internal lofts supported by two pairs of crucks with arched collars in the older timber-framed section of the building, along with very heavy purlins. This outbuilding is part of a group of three contemporary cruck-framed buildings, which includes the farmhouse and barn.
