Description
A group of 15 monuments is located in the churchyard approximately 5 meters north of the tower of the former Church of St Peter. This group includes three chest tombs and a row of 12 headstones, all dating from the 18th century and made of limestone.
The group features two tall chest tombs: one has gadrooned corner balusters and is inscribed to various members of the Wilkins family, while the other has panelled pilasters and fielded side panels, with a raised bolection moulded oval at the ends, also inscribed to the Wilkins family. There is a low chest tomb with bulbous ends that features acanthus carving on the side returns, and it has a later sandstone inscription panel dedicated to Thomas Baron, who died in 1766. The row of headstones displays a variety of designs, all featuring good carving, with two at the north end of the row displaying anthropomorphic panels.
