Description
Thatched Cottages are two houses built in a row, dating from the late 16th century, with some parts rebuilt in the early 19th century. They are timber framed with painted brick facing and feature rebuilt brick chimneys and a thatched roof. The cottages are single-storey with an attic, and there is an outshut added to the rear, which is not of special interest.
The front of the cottages has one full gable with two jetties and an attic casement window set in small square framing with rendered infill. The ground floor is built out in brick beneath the lower jetty, featuring a central doorway with a four-panel door flanked by timber casements. To the left, there is a gabled dormer with a timber framed iron casement window. Below this, there is a later segmental arched brick opening with a casement window, and a doorway to the left with a thatched porch and a plank door. The cottages have three ridge-mounted chimneys, and the south end is constructed of brick on a rubble stone base, with single-window timber casement fenestration. The interior has not been inspected.
