Description
The barn at Alkerton Farm is a large structure, likely built in the 17th century. It features a timber-framed design with brick infill set on a stone plinth. The barn has a roof supported by 20th-century timbers and covered with corrugated iron, consisting of five bays. A partition wall made of square panel timber-framing is complemented by vertical wide boarding on the exterior, linking to a large coursed stone end of the barn on the right side. There is a flight of brick steps leading up to a raking loft door opening, flanked by two cambered head lights next to a cambered head stable door on the right. The central section of the timber-framed barn has large, renewed double timber doors. To the left, there is a small brick lean-to.
