Description

This is a former stable and coach house, dating from the early 19th century, with a likely later 19th-century addition to the north. It originally served as part of Eastington Lodge. The building is constructed of coursed and dressed stone, with flush quoins to the right. The right gable end features a coped verge and an ashlar stack. The left-hand section is built of brick and has a small stone polygonal finial with a weathervane on its gable end. The roof is slate-covered. The stone section has a wide four-centred archway to the east, flanked by small ogee-headed windows with square hood moulds. To the west, there are three-light ogee windows also with square hood moulds, and a large 20th-century flat-roofed dormer. The brick section has a door and a two-light window to the east, with splayed brick voussoirs and a stone keystone. On the opposite side of the brick section is a cambered doorway. The stone section projects beyond the perimeter wall into the street, creating a prominent feature. The interior is not accessible.
