Description
The Sarah Leonard memorial is a chest tomb located approximately 5 meters north of the easternmost aisle bay at the Parish Church of St Bartholomew. It dates from the 18th century and is made of sandstone. The tomb features a cavetto top, quarter balusters, and cartouches, with carved panels on the north and south sides. It commemorates Sarah Leonard, who died in 1785. Although the design of the tomb is characteristic of an earlier part of the century, the use of sandstone suggests it may have been constructed around the date inscribed. At the time of the survey, the tomb was in a deteriorating condition, with its base obscured.
