Description

Alkeron Court is a detached house dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of brick on a stone plinth, with alternating brick quoins, horizontal plat bands, and a moulded stone cornice. The roof is slate, with a parapet at the ends and raised coped verges sweeping up to meet brick end stacks with a moulded stone cornice. The house has a single front range of three storeys and two rear single-storey wings. The symmetrical front facade has three windows. The second floor windows are 9-pane sashes, while the first floor has a 12-pane sash in the centre, flanked by Venetian windows. Below are similar sash windows. All windows are set within plain stone architraves with keystones. An original fanlight is incorporated into the rectangular surround of the central, moulded stone doorcase, which leads to a recessed six-panel door reached by two stone steps (the top four panels are fielded, and the lower two are flush). Some original window glass remains.
