Description
34 and 36 High Street are two similar houses from the early 18th century, though they were not built as a pair. They are constructed of brick, with No 36 featuring a pantile roof and No 34 having a double Roman tile roof. Both houses have three brick stacks and a moulded wood cornice and fascia. They are single-range buildings with rear extensions, standing two storeys tall.
The front of the houses has three bow windows, each with four lights and eight panes, along with a twin casement window to the left. On the ground floor, there are three bow windows, with a doorcase for No 34 situated between two of the bow windows on the right. This doorcase features an open wood pediment supported by consoles and a six-panel door, where the top two panels are glazed and the rest are fielded. The ground floor bow window panes of No 36 have been partially replaced with straight plate glass. To the left, there are two doors with six fielded panels, topped by a continuous moulded flat hood supported by three brackets, with the door on the far left likely leading to a passageway.
