Description
The building is a set of working horse stables located approximately 15 meters southwest of Jenkins Farmhouse, dating from the early 18th century. Constructed of limestone ashlar, the roof has been reclad in corrugated asbestos sheets, although it still features stone finials on the end gables. The stables have a small rectangular plan with an entrance at the center of the front and a hay loft above. They are one storey with a loft and have a symmetrical three-bay south front. This front includes a doorway at the center with chamfered jambs and a large stone lintel with a hoodmould, flanked by chamfered windows on either side, also with hoodmoulds. There is a gabled loft doorway in the roof to the left and ventilation slits in both gable ends, with the eastern slit being widened.
Inside, the walls are plastered, and there is an unchamfered floor beam and joists, along with a hay-drop at the back. The hay-rack, manger, and stall partitions have been removed. The structure features a collar truss with staggered purlins.
