Description
The Old Vicarage is a former vicarage, now a house, built in the early 19th century. It features good limestone ashlar and a Welsh slate roof. The building has an L-shaped plan with very low-pitched hipped roofs. At the entrance end, there is an extra, set-back bay that is separately roofed, and at the lower end, a one-bay gabled unit has been added.
The entrance front has two storeys. On the left, there are two-light casements with small square panes. In the center, there is a canted two-storey bay with 8:16:8-pane sashes below and a plate glass sash above. To the right, there are casements similar to those on the left. To the left of the bay, there is a glazed door beneath a deep margin-bar transom light. The far right bay, which is set back, features a casement oriel above a two-light casement and a large two-light casement on the return side.
The left return has a symmetrical three-window front with 16-pane sashes above deep two-light casements with transoms and margin bars, and a plain first-floor string. To the left, there is a one-bay extension with two-light 'Tudor' windows that have pointed heads and hood-moulds. The inner arm of the 'L' is variously windowed, including a three-light leaded casement with a transom. The interior retains a good early 19th-century staircase.
