Description

A row of cottages, likely originally three or four but now two, probably dates from the 18th century or possibly earlier. The cottages are constructed of squared and coursed limestone, with a stone slate roof on the front slope and concrete tiles at the rear. They are two storeys and attic, with four plus one windows facing the road, and a gable end facing the street. Most windows are 3-light chamfered mullion casements, although bay 2 has a recessed chamfer, and a single 2-light chamfered mullion casement is on the first floor to the right. There are stopped hood-moulds above the ground floor windows, and a continuous moulding over bays 3 and 4, extending over the door; this moulding has since been cut back. Further planked doors are located between bays 1 and 2 and on the extreme right. The gable end to the street has three 20th-century windows, with mostly 20th-century windows at the rear, although two 19th-century windows remain at the far end. A 2-light gabled dormer is positioned over bay 3. A gable stack is located on the left, along with three ridge stacks, two of which have been rebuilt.
