Description
Hill House is a detached house, possibly originally a weavers' cottage, dating from the early 18th century. It features a gabled wing on the right, which is likely from the 19th century. The building is constructed of squared and coursed limestone, with smaller limestone units in the top storey, possibly raised over the original structure. The roof is covered with concrete tiles or slate.
The main block is nearly symmetrical, standing three storeys high with three windows. On the ground floor, there are two three-light recessed chamfer casements beneath a continuous hood-mould that rises over the doorway. The first floor has a configuration of three, two, and three-light windows, each with separate hoods, and just below the eaves are two small two-light chamfer mullion lights. The central entrance features a plank door with a Tudor arch and a deep lintel. Gable stacks are present on the roof.
Attached to the right of the main block is a two-storey unit with a gable facing the road. This unit has a three-light wood casement window beneath a wooden lintel, above a continuous wooden lintel that supports an eight-pane fixed light and a pair of garage doors. There is an additional garage door in a lean-to structure to the right. A central lay-light is present in the main block.
